On July 27, 2023, The Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres gave an alarming speech on climate at UN headquarters in New York City and stated that “According to the data released today, July has already seen the hottest three-week period ever recorded; the three hottest days on record; and the highest-ever ocean temperatures for this time of year.” “The era of global warming has ended; the era of global boiling has arrived.”

The field recording I used for this piece was made in Berlin Neukölln, Germany, when a thunderstorm struck the town on June 26, 2023, right before entering the hottest July as of now. It is a piece meant to be played back with (a) subwoofer(s) as loud as possible.
